Margaret Clark grew up in Darlington and studied at Oxford before entering the world of children's books. She became one of this country's most eminent editors and for sixteen years was the director of children's publishing at The Bodley Head. She retired in 1988 and is now a freelance consultant and writer. Charlotte Voake is one of the most acclaimed contemporary children's book illustrators. She is the author of the Silver Smarties Book Prize-winning Pizza Kittens (9780744598100) and the bestselling Ginger (9780744560350), winner of the Gold Smarties Book Prize and Highly Commended for the Kate Greenaway Medal. She lives in Surrey.
