The Green Line

Author(s): Polly Farquharson

Picture Books

Join in on a joyous walk to the park with this child's-eye photographic exploration extravaganza. Cleverly never showing the child narrator, the reader follows the narrator's green doodle line as she investigates a stick, a butterfly, a feather, a daisy chain and other features, as well as crossing the road and avoiding the cracks in the pavement. Based on the author's own explorations of Hampstead Heath with her young children, this is a book to inspire children's imaginations from their local surroundings.

Product Information

Born in London, Polly Farquharson studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths College of Art. She then spent three years living in Italy working as an artist and translator. Between 1991 and 2003 she was a freelance photographer based in London, regularly contributing photographs of gardens, interiors, people and still life to magazines such as 'World of Interiors', 'Casa Vogue', 'Elle Decoration', 'Blueprint', 'Wallpaper', 'Gardens Illustrated', 'The Guardian' and 'The Times'. Alongside magazine work she also worked as an artist making prints and drawings from her studio in London. Since 2003 she has taken time out to be with her two daughters. The inspiration for THE GREEN LINE comes from the many times she and her children have enjoyed roaming across Hampstead Heath. The photographs were all taken on the Heath and the green line came from the idea of tracing one's own path on a small journey.
