Josephine, an old locomotive, gets to realise a long-held fantasy and escapes her museum display stand. Off down the track she charges, ostensibly to help a frightened little dog find his lost family - but the pair both have a thrilling adventure on and off an historic railway.
Diane Miller, from Dunedin, has previously authored two children's picture books, also set in Otago, Alices Adventures at the Castle and Stars of Orion. Diane also co-authored Macandrew Bay - a history of a community on the Otago Peninsula. She has spent many years working with books, and managing the family business Tapui Children's Books.
Sheryl Macleod has always loved drawing and painting. Her formative years were at Logan Park High School, and recently she attended classes with author/illustrator David Elliot. This is her first picture book. Formerly from Dunedin, Sheryl likes downhill mountain biking (a bit more daring than the Rail Trail). Oamaru "Steam Punk" fans will be interested to note that Sheryl Macleod, who has created the lively illustrations, now lives in Oamaru.
