Elusive Gold
Author(s): Tim Haywood
'Gold - there's got to be gold down there', were the thoughts churning through Jim Greene's mind as he gazed at the Coromandel Harbour. It was these thoughts that prompted Jum, a retired mining engineer, to join forces with a longtime friend George Jackson to form a company to recover the gold. After a very roller-coaster ride' they did just that, but not before encountering numerous setbacks on the way. In a rather devious manner, they manage to enlist the support from local councils, business people and Maori groups to meet the challenge. Despite setbacks from various sources - protest groups, gangsters, government regulations and last but not least, the vagaries of the weather - their dreams were realised. Tim Haywood is a retired teacher and this is his first published work of fiction. He lives in Hamilton, New Zealand.
