The images contained in this collection were selected for an exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. Many of them are revealed in this book in a way in which they have not been seen before. Correction marks and 'signs of the struggle', normally etched out in the printing process, have been allowed to remain as a matter of interest and fact; an attempt to represent them in the form in which they were made.
