About the author Jake McGowan-Lowe is 11 years old and lives in Perth and Kinross, Scotland. He began collecting bones on walks with his father when he was six and started blogging about his finds in 2007 when he was seven. Jake's collection of skeletons and bones now runs into the thousands and he has more than 200 skulls from around the world. Over the years he has been collecting, Jake's knowledge has grown and he is quickly becoming the youngest expert in his field. A keen naturalist, he not only studies animal anatomy and behaviour through the medium of bones but watches wildlife near his home. He has appeared on BBC TV and regularly features in the local and international press. As a blogger Jake has a large international online following with visitors from 169 countries. About the consultant Paolo Viscardi is a Natural History Curator at the Horniman Museum in Southeast London where he is responsible for the care and research of bone, rock and fossil collections. He blogs about bones and helps run an online biology Q&A site called Ask A Biologist. He organises and hosts science communication events and regularly lectures to a variety of audiences on topics ranging from Darwin to Mermaids.
