Trees of the World: A Celebration in Photographs
Author(s): Graeme Matthews
Out of print as at October 2008. Reprint. Prominent nature photographer Graeme Matthews has travelled the world to obtain this unique collection of some 140 visual images from every continent. It is a comprehensive survey - from the broadleaf forests and woodlands of Europe to the Amazon rainforests; from the mountain pines and weeping willows of China to the baobabs of Africa, and the Banyans of Malaysia. Also featured are individual specimens of great beauty such as the coast redwood of California, the world's tallest tree; Japanese cherry blossom, and frangipani of Oceania - some in park settings, others in their natural habitats. These enchanting images are complemented by a lively and thought-provoking essay from famous conservationist Dr David Bellamy, emphasising the urgent need to conserve the world's existing trees and to foster all trees in the wild and in cultivation. Graeme Matthews is a professional photographer and surveyor from New Zealand who lives near Blenheim.
