The Forgotten Flood has been described as one of the worst in New Zealand's history. This book is presented as a diary of events and the author was directly involved throughout. It highlights the rescue and feeding of stranded livestock and pet animals as well as on dramatic human rescue event. It has a powerful animal welfare focus with narrative and photographs of the dramatic rescue of some 7,400 head of cattle and 6,200 head of sheep from possible drowning. The Taiere Plain was flooded for over two months and the Momona Airport closed for 53 days.
