History of the Oroua Downs district, situated in the southern portion of what was known as the Rangitikei-Manawatu block. This history covers the period from the arrival of the first Maori tribes through to the Oroua Downs as it is known today in the 21st century. It tells of the lives of the people who have lived there, showing how they coped with difficulties including two world wars and economi depression, how they helped each-other, and how they valued education. These unsung heroes of our farming communities were very important contributors to New Zealand's social history. The information in this book comes from the two previous Oroua Downs School Jubilee publications, from interviewing and recording people's stories, from family stories, and from researching a wide range of resources.
