Preserving the Past fo rthe Future

Rotorua Books

A presentation of photographs assembled by the Clevedon and Districs Historical Society with the support and encouragement of Manukau City Council. The early European settlement of present-day Clevedon village had its beginnings in the late 1850's, although the first settlers, namely the McNicol and Hoye families arrived in 1853. This small picture book is just one of the ways we can record history in the making. As changes in our own lives can happen rather slowly so as to be almost unnoticeable, the same could be said about the history of the village. This is but a small attempt to record buildings, roads and points of interest, through the use of aerial photography in the year 2005.
