On Monday, October 15th 2007, more than 300 police carried out dawn raids on dozens of houses all over Aotearoa New Zealand. They police blockaded roads, invaded homes and imprisoned 17 people. Police claim the raids were in response to 'concrete terrorist threats' from indigenous activists, and they tried to charge them using the Terrorism Suppression Act. This law, born of the post-9/11 climate, brought real terror into the lives of many people: the arrestees, their friends, families and others who were raided. This book is a compilation of oral interviews with many of the affected people about that fateful day, the on-going struggle for freedom, and the political context that surrounds it all.
