Myshelf.com:Bead up a storm and create some wardrobe-extending pieces that are sure to look impressive. This book combines the best of four other Beadwork Creates books (those narrow little books bead stores usually carry) on making necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings and takes the best designs from each for your delight. This is easier to work from than those narrow books and features some stunning pieces, complete with instructions and lush whole-page photographs of what the finished piece ought to look like. This is not a book aimed at beginners, but the techniques used are briefly covered at the back so you can remind yourself of how to do things like stringing, crimping, off-loom stitches and the shortest and most succinct instructions on bead crochet and knitting I have yet seen. It makes it all look so easy and reading through it all I was impressed at how streamlined and well worded the brief instructions were, cutting through the jargon to what you actually do. As long as you have lots of rocailles and a few other beads and wire you probably have most of the materials, as this is fortunately not one of those books that are aimed at showcasing expensive feature beads that people outside the US find impossible to obtain. If you want to bead up some sets to go with your outfits then this book is an excellent choice.Beadworkers Guild Journal:The 'Beadwork Creates' series is a range of six books edited by Jean Campbell, Founding Editor of the American magazine Beadwork. Each book covers a different jewellery item with 30 projects in each one: Bracelets, Necklaces, Earrings, Beaded Rings, Beaded Bags and Beaded Beads. But if you've never managed to collect the set then Beadwork Creates Jewelry is just for you. It features a collection of 40 designs covering a range of techniques, styles and materials. All the designs have been handpicked from the six books so this is really 'the best of' Beadwork Creates. The designs feature Peyote Stitch, Brick Stitch, Right-angle weave, bead embroidery, bead crochet, stringing and wirework. Each project features clear step-by-step instructions and illustrations to guide and inspire both beginners and more experienced beaders. The comprehensive techniques section at the back of the book helps to explain anything you're not sure of to help perfect your skills. This book contains a collection of 40 designs handpicked from the 'Beadwork Creates' series with comprehensive instructions for bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings - most of these are suitable for beginners. Various techniques are used in the designs featuring peyote stitch, brick stitch, right-angle weave, bead embroidery, crochet, stringing and wirework. Before the instructions for each design the materials required are listed together with the techniques used. At the back of the book is a section describing and illustrating the methods used in the projects. A good 'ideas' book but perhaps not for the experienced beader looking for advanced designs.-Bead Society of Great Britain
