Jimmy Doherty was born in the beautiful Essex countryside, and has been passionate about nature and farming for as long as he can remember. After leaving school, he became an entomologist at Molehall Wildlife Park, the Natural History Museum and Coventry University but, in 2003, he decided to leave the study of insects behind him to set up a rare-breed pig farm in Suffolk. His trials and tribulations were filmed by the BBC and he wrote his first book, On the Farm, to accompany the series. He still lives and works on the farm with his girlfriend, 300 pigs, 3 cows, 15 sheep, 2 dogs and 100 chickens.
