Michael Morpurgo is the author of more than fifty books for children. He has won the Whitbread Children's Novel Award and the Smarties Book Prize and has had several of his novels adapted for film and television. A former teacher, Michael cares passionately about literature for children, and was a driving force behind setting up the Children's Laureateship, launched in 1999. He lives in Devon.
