Skin Stealers! Global are taking skin from hospital patients to make new faces for rich uppers. Don't let them take you! By 2025 machines and computers have replaced many working humans. Without jobs, people have drifted from country to country. Then Government money for the unemployed dries up and schools close. There is now no postal system or transport. Druggies and gangs roam the streets and the cities are in ruins. The country is divided into Towners (those huddling together to survive in derelict buildings and finding work where they can), Uppers (those rich enough to afford to live in luxury in a walled area and buy whatever they need), Misfits and Druggers who are dirty and must not be trusted at any cost.
Cal Farrell, a Towner, lives in a frightening world, behind bars for security, ever watchful, wary of strangers. The only bright spot he knows is the good done to his fellow Towners by Global Central Laboratories. Then, one day when Cal is visiting a sick friend, his whole belief system is turned upside down.
Who can he trust? Who is telling the truth?
