Little Truff and the Siamese Cat

Author(s): Ann Russell

Children Fiction

A modern animal story with humour, horror and adventure for all generations. Little Truff, a cute Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, has a new friend - Chloe, a highly intelligent yet mischievous chocolate point Siamese cat who's just moved in next door to the Nelson family. Late one afternoon, David takes Little Truff for a walk to the local dairy to buy some milk and ties the Cavalier to a lamppost. Chloe trots along too, but she's distracted elsewhere so she misses the dark shadow looming over Little Truff. It's Don Cameron, Truff's former abusive owner. He kidnaps Truff, and as they drive off, she sees David come out of the shop. In desperation she scrabbles at the window to get his attention, but to no avail. Little Truff is taken a long way from home, but why? Where is Don Cameron taking her? Will she ever see Chloe or her family again? Little Truff and the Siamese cat is a moving story, not only about deplorable commercial cruelty to animals but also about the importance of friendship and respect between animals and humans. It is balanced with humour, adventure and compassion and is the second in a series of four about animal issues.

Product Information

Ann Russell wanted to be a writer when she was twelve. Her first article was published ten years later, and she has since written non-fiction for major New Zealand newspapers and magazines. Food, fashion, subtropical plants, aromatherapy, cats, dogs and embroidery have been her main subjects. She has authored the book New Zealand Heritage Cross-Stitch, published by Harper Collins in 1991, and she has also written poetry. Ann was editor to the Auckland branch of the Newfoundland Club. The idea of a fictional story presented itself when she brought home a Humane Society rescue dog, a tricolour Cavlier King Charles Spaniel called Truffles or "Little Truff". A series of events also led her to romance writing, and she has been a finalist in two competitions held by the Romance Writers of New Zealand. Ann is proud to be a New Zealander, owned by two cats, and she loves living in West Auckland.
