An in depth history of Ellis & Burnand's sawmill operation at Ongarue, King Country, New Zealand. From the beginnings in 1911 to the final log through the mill in 1966. The famous tramway eventually extended 23 miles from the mill incorporating a spiral, spectacular viaduct and bridges. Maps and photos detail this fascinating operation. Interest in the tramway has been renewed by the 2012 development of a cycle and walkway along its length.
