Alistair Paterson is a noted poet, editor, fiction writer and critic. This is his first collection since the 1980's and it is a significant addition to his body of work. It presents poems written between 1987 and 2003. Strongly influenced by wide reading and the poetry he has received as editor of "Poetry NZ", it contains poems connecting traditional and post-modern writing and occasionally reflecting some some of the characteristics of semiotics. Alistair Paterson is a former tertiary educator and naval Lieutenant Commander. In 1993 he won the Katherine Mansfield Short Story Award .
