Author(s): John Dolan
A big bouncy collection, displaying a voice quite unlike any other in New Zealand at the moment and one which has fruitful connections elsewhere. This is the kind of collection which makes other poets sit up and think and which startles and intrigues audiences.
John Dolan has a PhD in rhetoric from the University of California at Berkeley and has held various jobs, including attack-dog handler at a truckyard in Oakland. He has published a number of previous collections in the US and one, Stuck Up, here in 1995. Until mid-2002 he lived in Dunedin New Zealand, teaching English at the University of Otago and running an influential creative writing class there. He now lives in Moscow where he and his partner are editing an ex-pat journal. Exile.
