Mal Peet and Elspeth Graham live in Exmouth, Devon, in a house not too far from the sea. Elspeth writes in a room on the ground floor while Mal writes in the attic. Sometimes they meet in the middle to write books like this one. Elspeth and Mal also wrote the award-winning Cloud Tea Monkeys, while Mal is the author of teenage novels Keeper and The Penalty and, for older readers, Exposure, Carnegie Medal-winning Tamar and Life: An Exploded Diagram. P.J. Lynch grew up in Belfast and has won many awards, including the Mother Goose Award, the Christopher Medal, and the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal on two occasions. P.J.
