Taranaki - Images of a nation Hardback

Author(s): Tucker, Rob

NZ Non Fiction

In this book on Taranaki, Rob Tucker discovers the delights of this West Coast North Island region. He lovingly captures the people, the landscape, its culture, food, industries and activites. Evidence of his sharp wit, perceptive eye and command of his art can be seen throughout this book. Born in New Plymouth, Rob Tucker started learning his craft at a local studio before seeking the challenges and action of newspaper life. He worked for a local New Plymouth paper before heading to a metropolitan daily in Auckland, and then on to Britain and Fleet Street. He worked for major papers and magazines overseas, the New Zealand Herald in Auckland, then left the newspaper industry to concentrate on the corporate market, taking advertising, public relations, fashion, annual reports and industrial photos from a studio in Parnell. 2005 is his 39th year as a photographer - he has worked for the rich and famous and many of the world's leading magazines and companies. He has covered four America's Cup regattas as Team New Zealand's inhouse photographer, photographed Ellec McPherson and the Bendon range in Australia, achieved two front covers of Time International and worked privately for the Queen. He is now working in New Plymouth again.
