In this book Mike Minehan tells her very own version of life at the Maori pa in Jerusalem on the Wanganui river. In her original compelling style she gives a poetical and sensitive insight into her relationship with James K. Baxter, the son she bore him and the influence these events had on her throughout her life.

It is also a story about finding destiny in life, sometimes disconcerting, yet full of fascination and hope.

Mike Minehan (Michele Blumsky) is a former broadcaster and poet. She lives in a small coastal community north of Christchurch with her husband and two Jack Russells.

First published in 1972 in university news-papers and Broadsheet, Mike Minehan began full time writing in 1988. This is her fifth published book.
