Wahine Toa : Omniscient Māori Women

Author(s): Robyn Kahukiwa & Patricia Grace

Pūrākau / Māori Legends & Mythology

An exploration of the stories of 8 women from Maori myths, in art works and texts. The artist intends her work to be visual representations of the myths, rather than just accompanying illustrations. Oil paintings and pencil drawings are reproduced in full-page format, and the second section of the book 'Artist's Outline Of The Myths' presents details of the visual symbols employed. Originally produced in 1984, Wahine Toa brought to light the stories of eight important female elements who played a defining role in our creation. Te Takupu is proud to present the 2018 bilingual edition of this much loved and respected book.
