Description

From one of the leading Maori scholars of his generation and one of New Zealand's leading photographers comes a beautifully illustrated work that serves as a concise, colourful overview of the past, present and future issues for Maori. After a general introduction to Maori history, Te Ara focuses on the stories of iwi in five regions - Hokianga, Peowhairangi (Bay of Islands) Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland), Waiariki (Rotorua-Taupo) and Murihiku (Otago-Southland). In an easily comprehensible format, it explores themes of leadership and community development for Maori, looking to the past, the present and the futureThis trilingual publication - in Maori, English and German - is a proven seller to visitors (particularly German speakers), general readers, students of Maori and schools.
