White Cloud Worlds: An anthology of science fiction and fantasy artwork from New Zealand, volume 3

Author(s): Paul Tobin (Editor)

Fine Art

White Cloud Worlds vol. 3 is the third release in this award-winning series of art books, and contains a stunning collection of sci-fi and fantasy art. The book features work by over 60 artists who have worked on some of the most popular film, graphic novel and game titles, including The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies, The Shadow of Mordor, Avatar, Wizards of the Coast, Blizzard Entertainment, Dark Horse Comics and Marvel. With 224 pages of full colour illustrations, White Cloud Worlds showcases original and digital art, sculpture, figurative art and models. Each artist is profiled alongside their art which is drawn from their professional careers or the work they create in their personal time. Their art is accompanied by text written by the artists themselves where they share their inspirations, ambitions and give an insight into how they work. The White Cloud Worlds series is the brainchild of Paul Tobin, a senior concept designer at Weta Workshop, who created the books to celebrate the community of sci-fi and fantasy artists in New Zealand and showcase the incredible work these artists create in their downtime, or usually the wee small hours of the morning. His aim is to legitimise scifi and fantasy art and inspire others into the imaginary arts. White Cloud Worlds vol. 3 includes contributions from some extraordinary guest writers, including James Gurney, Stephen Fry, Lucy Lawless, and Cathy and Arnie Fenner.
