Inspired by the name on a gravestone in Ypres, this novel is a work of fiction, but its ring of truth never falters. And so masterly is the telling of this life of the life of this 17 year old boy/man soldier, that the reader lives and feels every moment of it. Tension is maintained until the very end. The reader will have difficulty in putting this book down. Very highly recommendd for young adults.
