Description

Big Bear stepped out of her winter den. By her side, half asleep and blinking in the spring sunshine, wobbled a tiny cub...Spring is here and new life is stirring. There is so much for Big Bear to teach her new cub as they step out into the forest. Their journey will take them through summer and autumn and winter, always together, always discovering. With its evocative charcoal drawings and lyrical storytelling, Jo Weaver's debut book has the feel of an instant classic. The beautifully simple cover with gold foil, instantly conjures the tender relationship between parent and child. Jo Weaver was shortlisted for the AOI Illustration New Talent Awards 2014. Reviews

Grogeously drafted charcoal artwork and understated writing create a yearlong journey for two bears in this terrifically self-assured first book from British author-artist Weaver Publisher's Weekly A superb evocation of the love and care a mother has for her child and the delicate pencil drawings depict this to perfection Parents In Touch A journey through the seasons with some life lessons for Little One, wonderfully rendered in Jo Weaver's quietly beautiful charcoal illustrations... There's a gentle lyrical, almost meditational quality too... It's one to be shared -- Jill R Bennett Red Reading Hub
