Description

A living dinosaur is said to lurk in the vast jungle swamp, but when a TV crew try to film this beast it vanishes without a trace. It's up to the army's top jungle explorer and his ten year old son, Greg, to find them. What will Greg do when he meets the biggest terror of the swamp face to face? Terror of the Swamp is part of the Toxic series, published by Ransom Publishing, a specialist publisher for reluctant and struggling readers. The Toxic books offer exciting, shorter stories (just 48pp each) for readers who may find longer books too daunting, but who still want fast-paced, adventure stories. Terror of the Swamp is ideal for reluctant readers aged 9-12 with a reading age of 8-11.

Author description

John Townsend was born in Chelmsford, Essex, and discovered his enchantment with books at an early age. As a child, he wrote mini dramas, silly poems and stories to tell the cat. Whether or not the cat wanted to hear them is another matter! His love of hiking and the outdoors led him to become a geography teacher in Gloucestershire, writing pantomimes and plays for the annual drama productions. His first publication was inspired by his rusty old Morris Minor, and nearly 200 books later, he is now a full-time writer. Mainly focusing on non-fiction, he is a National Literacy Trust 'Reading Champion', and runs boys' literacy projects in schools.
