English Zone is a multi-level course of study for secondary school International students for whom English is a second language. This series is built around careful development of the four language skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing, with resources taken from a variety of contexts: books, newspapers, instruction manuals, road signs or the emergency signs at a hospital. Since the students using English Zone are now living in New Zealand, they will benefit from a course that builds and reinforces their English within a New Zealand cultural setting.
The Beginner Book caters for students arriving with very few English skills. Subsequent books at Elementary, Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate levels develop a structured and sequential course that presents a comprehensive series for English language teaching in New Zealand. The course is flexible to the needs of the individual student but also takes account of the time constraints of a school year, the weeks in the term and hours devoted to English each day.
